Worst Day Ever--Period--For me.

So my day today started at 4:30am when I was awoke by a knock on my door... Guess who was at the door? I should actually say what was at the door. A Tsunami... bet you were not going to say that.

A tsunami for all of you who do not know is a prank which involves you filling up a trash can with water and leaning it against someone’s door. When you open your door the Water pours into your room. This particular tsunami was something like 4-5 gallons of water I would guess. So at 4:30am I started to clean my room and try and soak up all of the water... I eventually returned to bed around 8:00am only to get up again at 9:00am to take an econ test... The test, ironically, was the high point of the day. I think I did quite well, but time will tell.

After the test I spent my afternoon working franticly on homework for Theology which I was planning on doing some of before the test... but we know how that turned out. So tired, and frustrated, I went to class.

After Theology I have Arithmetic, and I got my test back and that was another wonderful event to add to my day. Worst grade on a test for math that I have yet to get... the lowest score is dropped though, so at least that is good. I ditched the rest of class because I was ready for the day to be done.

Dinner was good. The food was decent but the company and conversation was good. On my way back from dinner I was feeling pretty good and even able to laugh slightly at the misfortunes of my day. As I walked back to my room I heard about a game of basketball that was going to happen at 6:15pm. So I, exited to play ball with people for once, I had been trying to play all week but no one was ever there, went over to the gym. Nothing. I was a little angry about the lack of people, but I shot around for a while than committed myself to an elliptical runner for a while.

Eventually people showed up to play, maybe my night was taking a turn for the best. I could not have been more wrong. We started playing a game of 4 on 4 and I was doing pretty well, all of the time I had put into practicing for the last few weeks was looking like it way paying off! I was thinking this day was not so bad again.

Ten minutes into the game it happened. There was a turnover and I was heading down court with my boss Mike when he sent a bounce pass to me because we had a 2 on 1 going in our advantage. This bounce pass was really sloppy and low, and when I went to try and recover it from a few inches off of the ground it happened.

The first time my finger impacted the ball it was a few inches off of the ground this jammed my finger. The second time my finger impacted the ball was when the ball hit the ground. At this point I felt that like I had jammed my finger and it hurt, a lot. The ball rolled out of bounds and the game stopped as I turned around, and to my surprise, my finger was pointing in three different directions.

After this happened I went out of the gym to the lobby and Mike, so graciously, called public safety. He was also nice enough to get me some ice for it as well. When public safety arrived they took my information and gave me the options I had: a taxi voucher to the hospital, or a friend could take me. Not wanting to wait for a taxi Merlin offered to take me to the E-Center near School. Merlin, for those that do not know, which is probably most of you, is the hall chaplain for my hall and our sister hall.

When we got to the E-Center I filled out some paperwork and played a back and forth game over the phone with my dad to get my insurance information. It was a short wait till I was let in for x-rays and after that I was led out to the lobby to wait because all the rooms were full.

Now, for the past hour or so since it happened my finger was in shock and I did not really feel to much, at least not anything more that a dull throbbing. However, at this point, in the lobby of the E-Center, the throbbing turned to waive after waive of pain.

After a half hour or so of waiting in pain I was let into the examination room where the doctor, who told me he had never straitened a finger before, prepped my finger and gave me two shots of Novocain, which was actually more painful than when he reset my finger. After I was nice and numb the doctor pulled on my finger and pushed it back into place. I did not feel this at all, which, all things considered was most excellent.

Once my finger was strait again I was x-rayed once again, and finally allowed to go after receiving a splint and a prescription for vicatin. When all was said and done I dislocated my finger in 2 places. It could have been worse, I was lucky, I know that.

Now my day is finally drawing to an end, and I am writing this and then going to bed... while the drugs lull me to sleep. That was my day, and all things considered it has been the worse one this year by far.

On the bright side, my carpet is finally dry.

Alan, I can't tell you how often I've been busted in class because of laughing at blogs.

Also Eric, I love how the shirt you're wearing says "The Fragile". So appropriate.
